Fall into the magic of Charleston's September and October Events

Downtown

The Charleston Food and Wine Classic will be held on September 27-29! It'S a must for food enthusiasts and wine lovers! Over 100 stalls will be set up, offering a variety of gourmet foods and world-class wines.
 
 
Distinguished chefs and renowned winemakers come together to share their passion, Serving up delicious food and wine, it’s a must for anyone who enjoys great flavors and good company. Some of the big names this year are Andrew Zimmerman, Nyesha Arrington, Tyler Florence and Sean Brock. Tickets and passes can be found here.
 
 
Get ready to spice up your Sunday with the Rancho Lewis 7th Annual Hatch Chile Roast! On Sunday October 6th from 1 to 5 p.m., come out to Pacific Box & Crate for some smoky, fiery fun as they roast up delicious Hatch chiles. Want to skip the line? 
Pre-order your Chile batch on their site and pick it up fresh and hot. Don’t miss this flavor-packed event—it’s going to be chile-icious!
 
 
 
 
Drayton Hall at Night will be held on September 14th. 
This exclusive after-hours event is free for members and includes access to the grounds, live music, scavenger hunts, and colonial games. 
Archaeologists will be present to discuss recent discoveries. Beer, wine, and pre-ordered cheese boards are available, so bring a picnic and relax
under the stars.
 
 
September 14th will also be the 9th Annual Hope Walk at the Ravenel Bridge for Breast Cancer awareness. The walk starts at 8am and will begin at the Charleston side of the bridge and end in Mount Pleasant. Tickets range from $7 to $25. 
 
 

 
 
Raise your glass for Drink Pink, Charleston’s biggest rosé festival! Set at Joe Riley Park, this all-day event (1-7 PM) features live music, DJ sets, rosé samples, and various drink options. Celebrate Charleston’s cultural diversity at the MOJA Arts Festival.
This festival features everything from visual arts and classical music to jazz, gospel, and ethnic food. Sullivan’s Island & Isle of Palms
 
Starting October 1st the Sullivan’s Island Bonfires are back! Locals and visitors can enjoy evenings by the fire, but be sure to check out the rules and regulations for a safe and enjoyable time and to purchase a permit. Permits are $100 for non residents and $25 for residents of Sullivan's Island. 

 

Isle of Palms Connector Run will be on October 5th so lace up for the 10K and 5K races benefiting local child abuse prevention charities. After the race, enjoy the post-race festival, perfect for a family-friendly day of fun.

 

 

Mount Pleasant

Pickle Palooza is happening on September 21st, and if you're a pickle fan, this is your jam! It’s happening at the Embassy Suites Charleston Harbor, and you can expect live music, food trucks, games, pickleball, and, of course, all things pickle. It’s the perfect excuse to gather with the community and have some fun. 

The event starts at 1pm with a pickle eating contest at 2pm and a pickle juice chug challenge at 2:30 pm. Tickets range from $25 to $100.

Then, mark your calendar for September 27th because Boone Hall’s Pumpkin Patch is back! This iconic fall event has everything from a giant corn maze to a Halloween tractor tour that’ll get you into the spirit of the season. Plus, they’ve got an interactive honeybee exhibit and live performances, making it the perfect spot for family fun.

Fright Night tickets are also on sale currently for weekend dates starting September 21st. It opens at 6:30pm and tickets start at $39 or $34 for groups of 20+. 

 
 
Daniel Island
 
Daniel Island is about to get country loud on September 13th with Dierks Bentley’s Gravel & Gold Tour at Credit One Stadium! Then, Post Malone is coming to town on October 9th for his F-1 Trillion Tour! Credit One Stadium will be hosting one of the biggest names in music, and this is your chance to catch Post Malone live right here in Charleston. Get ready for an epic night of music and find tickets here. 

 

 

The Point Hope Harvest Festival, happening at 1049 Point Hope Parkway off Clements Ferry Road, is partnering with Goddard Point Hope. This first-ever market is set to bring vibrant energy to the community. Head to the Village Green on Sunday, September 22nd, to check out a fantastic range of local vendors, groove to live music, and savor delicious food and drinks. Plus, there’ll be plenty of fun activities for the kids, making it a perfect fall celebration.

West Ashley 

On September 21st, the Magnolia Beauti-Fall Festival in West Ashley is bringing all the autumn vibes! With garden tours, mini pumpkin painting, face painting, and live music, there’s fun for the whole family. You can even pick out the perfect pumpkin from the patch and snack on goodies from local vendors.

 

 

Summerville

Summerville's sweet tea festival will be on the 21st of September!

Celebrate the birthplace of Sweet Tea at the hisitoric downtown Summerville Hutchinson Square. Summerville's Historic Downtown is transformed into a massive open house/street fair with different food trucks, artisanal vendors and entertainment. You can help select the Tea of the Year by sampling and voting for your favorite!

North Charleston 

Chelsea Handler takes the stage at the North Charleston Coliseum on September 13th. If you love her bold, no-filter humor, this is a show you won’t want to miss. Get ready for a night of witty, unfiltered comedy. Tickets start at $46. 

Jelly Roll is bringing his mix of country, rock, and hip-hop to the Coliseum on September 19th! He’s known for lighting up the stage with incredible concerts. Tickets start at $59.50.

Another unforgettable comedian, Whitney Cummings, is coming to Charleston Music Hall on October 4th for her Big Baby Tour. Tickets start at $14. 

Over at Park Circle, Oktoberfest is happening on September 21st at Holy City Brewing. Think traditional German beer, live music, and a festive beer hall atmosphere. It's the perfect way to celebrate German culture and enjoy a fun-filled day with great drinks and company!

On October 6th, Wannamaker County Park will be filled with the vibrant sounds and flavors of the Latin American Festival! From salsa and merengue to delicious Latin cuisine, it's the ultimate celebration of Latin American culture. Music, dancing, and authentic food—what more could you ask for? Onsite admission is $25 per vehicle but is free for Gold Pass holders. 

 

Folly Beach

Cast Off Fishing Tournaments are on September 14th and October 12th on the Folly Beach Fishing Pier. Compete for the heaviest catch, rain or shine. Registration is available on-site the morning of each tournament at 7am.  September 13th and October 4th will be the dock party at crosbys Fish and Shrimp from 6-10pm! 

 

Kiawah Island

Athletes, mark your calendars for the Kiawah Island Triathlon! This swim, bike, and run event takes place at Night Heron Park on October 6th and promises a day of intense competition amidst the stunning scenery of Kiawah. Register for the triathlon here. 

Edisto Beach

The Fall Festival & Turtle Tide Auction is happening on October 12th from 11am to 4pm. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the season with arts, crafts, and homemade treats. The highlight? The Turtle Tide Auction, where you can bid on beautifully painted turtle sculptures, all to support local non-profits.

 

Weather in September & October in Charleston

In September, Charleston’s weather is still warm, but you’ll start to notice cooler days ahead. With average highs around 83°F and lows near 72°F, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors. While humidity lingers, it’s not as intense as summer’s peak.

Pack light, breathable clothing, swimsuits, sunscreen, sunglasses, a sunhat, and flip-flops. And don’t forget a light layer for those cooler evenings!
