    Mount Pleasant   Get ready for a day of family fun at the Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Children’s Day Festival on October 20th! From 12 PM to 5 PM, enjoy carnival rides, inflatable slides, live entertainment, pony rides, and games that will delight attendees of all ages. Admission and activities are free! Parking is available at Cario Middle School and Charles Pinckney/Laurel Hill, with shuttles running all day or you can enjoy a pleasant walk through the school’s cut-through to reach the festival. Don’t miss out on the fun! Palmetto Park Jam is happening on October 13th, featuring the ultimate Allman Brothers tribute band, The Idlewild Revival, during this annual Grateful Dead tribute concert. Gates open at 11 AM, and live music will run from 12 PM to 4:30 PM, with the Allman Brothers tribute starting around 1:30 PM. Tickets  are sold per car at $20 in advance or $30 on the day of the event. Gold Pass members get in free.   The Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch continues through October, wrapping up on the 27th. No need to pre-register—just sign up onsite that morning and cast away for a fun day of fishing! Get ready for the Chili 5K Run/Walk at Laurel Hill County Park on November 2nd! Navigate the beautiful moss-covered trails with friends and family. Race fees  are $38, and registration is required to participate in this chilly but fun event. Calling all plant-based foodies! The Vegan Festival at Palmetto Islands County Park is happening on November 2nd from 10 AM to 3 PM. From filmscreenings to author discussions, this festival has something for every book lover. Tickets start at just $3—don’t miss the chance to engage with some of the best literary minds! Thank you for Noshing with us! On November 10th at 11:30 AM, head to 90 Hassell Street for the 10th Annual Lowcountry Nosh. This event celebrates Jewish food, music, and culture, with a stroll down traffic-free Hasell Street. Enjoy corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, bagels & lox, knishes, stuffed cabbage, and irresistible Jewish sweets. Activities for children, tours of KKBE’s historic property, and live entertainment are also on the agenda, all in conjunction with Second Sunday on King Street. Tickets start at $46.50. Then, on November 17th, Martha Stewart will be celebrating her 100th cookbook at 4 PM. Tickets  start at $75 and include a copy of her new book, The Cookbook 100 Favorite Recipes.   The Queen Street Playhouse brings theatrical excitement in October with two shows: The Minutes and Purlie Victorious. Both productions will run through the entire month, offering a fantastic lineup for theater lovers. And on November 1st, don’t miss the First Friday ArtWalk downtown. Stroll through galleries, sip on wine, and soak in the local art scene during this monthly cultural experience.     Want to give back this fall? LOWVELO will host a series of cycling events, ranging from 10 to 80 miles, to benefit MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. Whether you’re a rider or a volunteer, this is a great opportunity to raise funds for a good cause   Finally, the Charleston Mimosa Festival is on October 12th at The Citadel, starting at 1 PM. Sip on Mimosas, brunch punch, beer, and wine while enjoying live music and a DJ set.       Isle of Palms Enjoy the IOP Halloween Carnival on October 26th from 4 to 6 PM at the Recreation Center. Get ready for a spook-tacular time featuring a Halloween costume Golf Cart Parade, a drive-through haunted house, inflatables, food vendors, and trick-or-treat bags for all the kids. Don’t miss Ghostly Tide Tales on October 11th at Front Beach, where local ghost stories come to life around the campfire! Parking  is available at Municipal Lot B on Pavilion Drive—just follow the beach access path beside the sea cabins. This free event runs from 6 PM to 7 PM, so grab your friends and come enjoy some ghostly fun!   Mark your calendars for November 3rd because the Isle of Palms Exchange Club is throwing its 2nd Annual Shuck Fest! Get ready for a day filled with live music, local oysters, and refreshing craft beer—all in support of the Lonon Foundation, a fantastic local nonprofit dedicated to helping kids impacted by a parent’s cancer diagnosis. Set against the stunning backdrop of the dock off the waterway, you might even spot some dolphins! Tickets are just $50 in advance or $60 at the door, and they include mouthwatering local oysters, BBQ from Swig & Swine, and cold brews from Frothy Beard. You can register as a team or an individual, or volunteer for the event. It’s a great way to make a difference while enjoying a fun day outdoors! Register here.  Mark your calendars for the 2024 Mermaids & Mateys Event, packed with excitement and fun for all ages. It all kicks off with "Salty Saturday" on September 28th, from 10am to 4pm on Center Street. Explore over 70 local vendors, compete in the costume contest, and enjoy live music on three stages. There's also a dunk tank and a kids' area with inflatables! Keep the festivities going on Sunday, September 29th, with a sand-sculpting competition on the beach behind the Tides Hotel from 11am to 2:30pm. More details coming soon!     Johns Island & Kiawah River Get ready for the Run Like the Devil Fall Festival & 5K Run!  Registration is limited and closes on October 19th, so be sure to grab your tickets if you want to participate in the run. There’s no entrance fee for the festival itself, so come enjoy the outdoor activities, including a farmer’s market, games for kids, local makers, and delicious food trucks! Just a heads up: there’s a $10 cash parking fee. The Harvest Festival at Johns Island County Park is set for November 2nd, running from 11 AM to 5 PM. Enjoy a lively afternoon filled with foot-stomping music from local bluegrass bands! Participate in hayrides, pumpkin decorating, archery, and a variety of other activities. Savor delicious Southern dishes like Carolina barbecue, kettle corn, and all your festival favorites. Once you’ve filled your belly, check out the crafters market for some great holiday shopping! Head to Colonial Trades and Harvest Day on November 9th at Charles Towne Landing Historic Site. You'll step back in time and experience life as it was in the early settlement, interacting with costumed interpreters and craftspeople stationed inside the fort. Try your hand at colonial games, learn about traditional foodways, and witness exciting black powder demonstrations. Tickets start at $50 and doors open at 5pm. The lecture series announcement comes on the heels of Brooklyn Museum’s exhibition on Spike Lee, which offers a rare glimpse into his personal collection of art and inspiration.    Straight No Chaser is bringing their a cappella magic to the Coliseum on October 25! This all-male group from Indiana University will wow the crowd with pop classics, modern hits, and some holiday cheer. With live music, food, games, and craft brews from over 60 breweries, it’s the ultimate beer lover’s day out. The event runs from 1 PM to 7 PM, with VIP early access starting at 12 PM. Tickets  start at $45. Sarah Silverman brings her Postmortem Tour to the Charleston Music Hall on November 7. Doors open at 6 PM, and tickets start at $62.50. Charleston in October and November is a dream come true for those who love sunshine and mild temps. With the summer humidity long gone, temperatures settle comfortably in the mid-70s, making it perfect for strolling through the city or enjoying outdoor events. You can expect mostly sunny skies (with an average of only four days of rain), so pack light layers you can mix and match. And while hurricane season technically lingers into early October, by the end of the month, it’s all about those crisp, sunny days that make Charleston one of the best places to be in the fall.

      Downtown The Charleston Food and Wine Classic will be held on September 27-29! It'S a must for food enthusiasts and wine lovers! Over 100 stalls will be set up, offering a variety of gourmet foods and world-class wines.     Distinguished chefs and renowned winemakers come together to share their passion, Serving up delicious food and wine, it’s a must for anyone who enjoys great flavors and good company. Some of the big names this year are Andrew Zimmerman, Nyesha Arrington, Tyler Florence and Sean Brock. Tickets and passes can be found here.     Get ready to spice up your Sunday with the Rancho Lewis 7th Annual Hatch Chile Roast! On Sunday October 6th from 1 to 5 p.m., come out to Pacific Box & Crate for some smoky, fiery fun as they roast up delicious Hatch chiles. Want to skip the line?  Pre-order your Chile batch on their site and pick it up fresh and hot. Don’t miss this flavor-packed event—it’s going to be chile-icious!         Drayton Hall at Night will be held on September 14th.  This exclusive after-hours event is free for members and includes access to the grounds, live music, scavenger hunts, and colonial games.  Archaeologists will be present to discuss recent discoveries. Permits are $100 for non residents and $25 for residents of Sullivan's Island.    Isle of Palms Connector Run will be on October 5th so lace up for the 10K and 5K races benefiting local child abuse prevention charities. After the race, enjoy the post-race festival, perfect for a family-friendly day of fun.     Mount Pleasant Pickle Palooza is happening on September 21st, and if you're a pickle fan, this is your jam! It’s happening at the Embassy Suites Charleston Harbor, and you can expect live music, food trucks, games, pickleball, and, of course, all things pickle. It’s the perfect excuse to gather with the community and have some fun.  The event starts at 1pm with a pickle eating contest at 2pm and a pickle juice chug challenge at 2:30 pm. Summerville's Historic Downtown is transformed into a massive open house/street fair with different food trucks, artisanal vendors and entertainment. You can help select the Tea of the Year by sampling and voting for your favorite! North Charleston  Chelsea Handler takes the stage at the North Charleston Coliseum on September 13th. If you love her bold, no-filter humor, this is a show you won’t want to miss. Get ready for a night of witty, unfiltered comedy. Tickets start at $46.  Jelly Roll is bringing his mix of country, rock, and hip-hop to the Coliseum on September 19th! He’s known for lighting up the stage with incredible concerts. Tickets start at $59.50. Another unforgettable comedian, Whitney Cummings, is coming to Charleston Music Hall on October 4th for her Big Baby Tour. This swim, bike, and run event takes place at Night Heron Park on October 6th and promises a day of intense competition amidst the stunning scenery of Kiawah. The Turtle Tide Auction, where you can bid on beautifully painted turtle sculptures, all to support local non-profits.   Weather in September & October in Charleston In September, Charleston’s weather is still warm, but you’ll start to notice cooler days ahead. With average highs around 83°F and lows near 72°F, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors. While humidity lingers, it’s not as intense as summer’s peak. Pack light, breathable clothing, swimsuits, sunscreen, sunglasses, a sunhat, and flip-flops. And don’t forget a light layer for those cooler evenings!

Set sail for a night of smooth vibes and timeless tunes on August 10th at Charleston Music Hall with Sail Away & Nash! This musical tribute show will transport you back to the golden era of soft rock, featuring hits from legends like Christopher Cross, Hall and Oates, The Doobie Brothers, Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan, Toto, and more! The Village Repertory Co. adds their unique twist by having performers step into the shoes of these iconic musicians, blending music with a touch of theater. Ticket start at $25. Fireworks are on Fridays and Tuesdays are Dog Days nights where you can bring your pup to the game.   Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina is hosting its 5th Annual King Mackerel Fishing Tournament from August 15-17, 2024. This premier event promises two days of competitive fishing and three nights of live music, including a Friday performance by 54 Bicycles. Join in the fun, soak up the southern hospitality, and enjoy the perfect mix of sport and entertainment.    Join the Charleston Harbor Cruise Terminal on Saturday, August 24, from 3 PM to 7 PM for the Charleston Summer Wine Festival! Enjoy over 50 wines, mimosas, beer, live music, and a DJ. Tickets include entry, entertainment, a souvenir wine glass, and all wine and beer samples. Food will be available for purchase and make sure to get your tickets for $50 in advance, after August 18 it’s $55, and $65 on the day of the event.  Lowcountry Jazz Festival will be starting at the Gaillard Center on August 30th over labor day weekend. If you plan to go all three days, there is a 10% discount.  AN AFTERNOON WITH STEPHEN COLBERT AND EVIE MCGEE COLBERT We know it’s in late September, but there is a chance tickets will sell out for this event. Stephen and Evie Colbert are coming to the Gaillard Center to showcase their new cooking book Does This Taste Funny?! They’ll share their favorite dishes from their South Carolina home kitchen. This delightful cookbook offers everything from Party Food, to Seafood, to Poultry and Meat. It’s on September 22nd at 2pm, tickets seem to start around $87 and include a copy of their book.         Mount Pleasant Charleston Battery vs. Memphis 901 Pro Soccer game! Get ready for an exhilarating evening as the Charleston Battery, the defending Eastern Conference champions, face off against Memphis 901 on Saturday, August 10th at Patriots Point. Tickets are $20 and the event starts at 7:30pm.   Savor Crableg Thursdays at Mainland Container! Mark your calendars for August 15th, as Mainland Container hosts its popular Crableg Thursday starting at 4 PM. Every Thursday, indulge in Jumbo Alaskan Snow Crab legs for just $20 per pound until they sell out. The evening gets even better with live music on the outdoor patio, creating a perfect setting for a delightful dining experience.   Enjoy Waterfront Music & Movies at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park! Get ready for a perfect summer evening at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park! On August 16th, join us for a 6 PM show featuring the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou. The fun continues on August 23rd with a screening of Barbie. Food sales begin at 6 PM, followed by live music at 6:30 PM, with the movie starting at sunset. Admission and parking are free, making it an ideal outing for Mount Pleasant residents and visitors alike.   North Charleston Cru Catering is hosting two events this August! On August 23-24, join Bourbon, Bourbon, Bourbon, a food and beverage journey celebrating all things grain and mash. Then, on August 30-31, there's Summer’s Grand Finale, a vibrant celebration that bids farewell to summer and welcomes the flavors of fall. Tickets are $225 per person and must be purchased 14 days in advance.   Johns Island & James Island & West Ashley On August 11th, James Island County Park is hosting the Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series. It features a 600-yard freshwater swim, 12-mile bike ride, and 5K flat run. Advanced registration is required and you can register online here.   Wadmalaw Island has their Weekend Wine-Down on August 10th with food trucks and live music at Deep Water Vineyard. If you can’t make it to their weekend event, every Friday they have a Tipsy Tour. Pick up is at the visitor’s center downtown at 11:30am and from there you’ll travel to the vineyard, then head to Holy City Brewing and Firefly Distillery. It’s a unique experience complete with tastings, snacks and souvenir glassware and tickets are $105.    Don’t forget about Deep Water’s 20th annual Grape Stomp Festival on August 17th You can pre pay for your parking pass ($20) and get your team signed up to stomp, however there are open stomping buckets available through the day for you to have fun stomping grapes in a barrel. The competitions are throughout the day    Daniel Island  Every second Saturday, The Dime hosts an outdoor yoga class lead by local instructor Bella Rybak. It’s free to join and after class you can head to The Dime to check out their monthly local vendor market CREDIT ONE CONCERTS Dan + Shay Heartbreak on the Map Tour will be playing at the Credit One Stadium on August 15th. Jon Pardi - Mr. Saturday Night Tour- will be playing on September 7th, tickets start at $33.75.     Isle of Palms & Sullivans Island  The Dave Matthews Tribute Band will be playing at the Windjammer at 6pm on August 11th. Tickets are $25 at the door but $20 if you buy in advance. The Dave Matthews Tribute Band stands out for their exceptional improvisational skills and solid groove, with their passion and respect for DMB making you leave their shows saying, “Yeah, they really do sound like the real Dave Matthews Band.” Other Windjammer bands playing through August: Everclear on the 16th, Sister Hazel through the weekend of the 17th.   Looking for an afternoon cocktail spot or to dine al fresco with friends & family coming in from out of town? Part of hotel The Emiline, this lovely spot is perfect for an afternoon Aperol Spritz.  Coterie | Their patio is filled with flowers in full bloom currently, and their menu is full of craft cocktails. The Staycation cocktail is pretty incredible.  Herd Provisions | Their focus is ethically-sourced ingredients, and they will accommodate any wishes. They not only have a wonderful wine list but a grocery store and butcher shop that is sure to impress.  Cleats | a new sports bar downtown located at the Refinery.
