Downtown Second Sunday on King Street is on Sunday August 11th from Noon - 5 PM. With the street closed to traffic, locals and visitors can wander through vibrant shops, savor delicious food, and soak in the city’s charm. Grab a lobster roll at &lobster! Their food truck will also be at IOP Farmer’s Market at 4pm on August 15th. Sail Away & Nash: A Yacht Rock Adventure at Charleston Music Hall! Set sail for a night of smooth vibes and timeless tunes on August 10th at Charleston Music Hall with Sail Away & Nash! This musical tribute show will transport you back to the golden era of soft rock, featuring hits from legends like Christopher Cross, Hall and Oates, The Doobie Brothers, Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan, Toto, and more! The Village Repertory Co. adds their unique twist by having performers step into the shoes of these iconic musicians, blending music with a touch of theater. Ticket start at $25. But wait, there's more! Rock out with Queen Flash, the ultimate Queen tribute, on August 11th at 7 PM. Tickets are $30-35. Don't miss these back-to-back nights of musical magic—grab your tickets and get ready for an unforgettable summer blast! During the last two weeks of August the Riverdogs are hosting home games! Head out for a fun filled night with family and friends. Fireworks are on Fridays and Tuesdays are Dog Days nights where you can bring your pup to the game. Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina is hosting its 5th Annual King Mackerel Fishing Tournament from August 15-17, 2024. This premier event promises two days of competitive fishing and three nights of live music, including a Friday performance by 54 Bicycles. Join in the fun, soak up the southern hospitality, and enjoy the perfect mix of sport and entertainment. Join the Charleston Harbor Cruise Terminal on Saturday, August 24, from 3 PM to 7 PM for the Charleston Summer Wine Festival! Enjoy over 50 wines, mimosas, beer, live music, and a DJ. Tickets include entry, entertainment, a souvenir wine glass, and all wine and beer samples. Food will be available for purchase and make sure to get your tickets for $50 in advance, after August 18 it’s $55, and $65 on the day of the event. Lowcountry Jazz Festival will be starting at the Gaillard Center on August 30th over labor day weekend. For the full lineup check here. The All White Party, their opening night event, will be on Friday the 30th and tickets start at $149 to attend. If you plan to go all three days, there is a 10% discount. AN AFTERNOON WITH STEPHEN COLBERT AND EVIE MCGEE COLBERT We know it’s in late September, but there is a chance tickets will sell out for this event. Stephen and Evie Colbert are coming to the Gaillard Center to showcase their new cooking book Does This Taste Funny?! They’ll share their favorite dishes from their South Carolina home kitchen. This delightful cookbook offers everything from Party Food, to Seafood, to Poultry and Meat. It’s on September 22nd at 2pm, tickets seem to start around $87 and include a copy of their book. Mount Pleasant Charleston Battery vs. Memphis 901 Pro Soccer game! Get ready for an exhilarating evening as the Charleston Battery, the defending Eastern Conference champions, face off against Memphis 901 on Saturday, August 10th at Patriots Point. Tickets are $20 and the event starts at 7:30pm. Savor Crableg Thursdays at Mainland Container! Mark your calendars for August 15th, as Mainland Container hosts its popular Crableg Thursday starting at 4 PM. Every Thursday, indulge in Jumbo Alaskan Snow Crab legs for just $20 per pound until they sell out. The evening gets even better with live music on the outdoor patio, creating a perfect setting for a delightful dining experience. Enjoy Waterfront Music & Movies at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park! Get ready for a perfect summer evening at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park! On August 16th, join us for a 6 PM show featuring the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou. The fun continues on August 23rd with a screening of Barbie. Food sales begin at 6 PM, followed by live music at 6:30 PM, with the movie starting at sunset. Admission and parking are free, making it an ideal outing for Mount Pleasant residents and visitors alike. North Charleston Cru Catering is hosting two events this August! On August 23-24, join Bourbon, Bourbon, Bourbon, a food and beverage journey celebrating all things grain and mash. Then, on August 30-31, there's Summer’s Grand Finale, a vibrant celebration that bids farewell to summer and welcomes the flavors of fall. Tickets are $225 per person and must be purchased 14 days in advance. Johns Island & James Island & West Ashley On August 11th, James Island County Park is hosting the Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series. It features a 600-yard freshwater swim, 12-mile bike ride, and 5K flat run. Advanced registration is required and you can register online here. Wadmalaw Island has their Weekend Wine-Down on August 10th with food trucks and live music at Deep Water Vineyard. If you can’t make it to their weekend event, every Friday they have a Tipsy Tour. Pick up is at the visitor’s center downtown at 11:30am and from there you’ll travel to the vineyard, then head to Holy City Brewing and Firefly Distillery. It’s a unique experience complete with tastings, snacks and souvenir glassware and tickets are $105. Don’t forget about Deep Water’s 20th annual Grape Stomp Festival on August 17th You can pre pay for your parking pass ($20) and get your team signed up to stomp, however there are open stomping buckets available through the day for you to have fun stomping grapes in a barrel. The competitions are throughout the day Daniel Island Every second Saturday, The Dime hosts an outdoor yoga class lead by local instructor Bella Rybak. It’s free to join and after class you can head to The Dime to check out their monthly local vendor market CREDIT ONE CONCERTS Dan + Shay Heartbreak on the Map Tour will be playing at the Credit One Stadium on August 15th. Tickets start at $12. Jon Pardi - Mr. Saturday Night Tour- will be playing on September 7th, tickets start at $33.75. Isle of Palms & Sullivans Island The Dave Matthews Tribute Band will be playing at the Windjammer at 6pm on August 11th. Tickets are $25 at the door but $20 if you buy in advance. The Dave Matthews Tribute Band stands out for their exceptional improvisational skills and solid groove, with their passion and respect for DMB making you leave their shows saying, “Yeah, they really do sound like the real Dave Matthews Band.” Other Windjammer bands playing through August: Everclear on the 16th, Sister Hazel through the weekend of the 17th. Fuel Charleston | A Caribbean-style restaurant located in the Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood downtown, their patio is dog-friendly and has a great happy hour. La Farfalle | A gorgeous Italian restaurant off of King Street has a sunny patio with large tables to enjoy wine and house-made focaccia at. They also have an amazing wine list if you are looking for a special bottle. Xiao Bao Biscuit | This asian-inspired restaurant has creative dishes and wonderful cocktails. Enjoy the sunshine with a low key bite to eat at their picnic tables out front. Frannie and the Fox | One of my personal favorites, their outdoor patio is just beautiful. Part of hotel The Emiline, this lovely spot is perfect for an afternoon Aperol Spritz. Coterie | Their patio is filled with flowers in full bloom currently, and their menu is full of craft cocktails. The Staycation cocktail is pretty incredible. Herd Provisions | Their focus is ethically-sourced ingredients, and they will accommodate any wishes. They not only have a wonderful wine list but a grocery store and butcher shop that is sure to impress. Cleats | a new sports bar downtown located at the Refinery. It has local beers, cocktails and a great menu. The outdoor patio is also dog friendly. What’s the Weather Like in Charleston, SC in August? In August, Charleston keeps its summer vibe going strong with hot and humid weather, with temperatures climbing into the 80s and 90s. You’ll definitely feel the heat, whether you’re out and about or just relaxing. It’s one of the hottest months of the year, so pack light, breathable clothing, swimsuits, sunscreen, sunglasses, a sunhat, and flip-flops. Be prepared for occasional rain, too—August can be quite rainy, so don’t forget your rain gear and have some indoor activities in mind for those wet afternoons.

Kiawah Island The Sanctuary Sounds of Summer: Every Saturday this summer the Grand Lawn of the Sanctuary will host complimentary family-friendly concerts. There is a cash bar and seating including a line up with acts like The River City Dixieland Jazz Band and The Travis Allison Band. Downtown Charleston Wednesday July 24th Gibbs Art Museum will be hosting the Art of Jazz featuring famed guitarist Grace McNally, from 6-7pm. Jessamine and Vine will be providing the wine and delicious beers so you know the beverages will be top of the line. Tickets run $35 for members and $45 for non-members. Rider Hotel will be hosting Wimbledon with a wink! A Wimbledon Watch party with short court pop-ups through the 14th of July. Experience the ultimate pickleball pop-up with Short Court and Volley, where Wimbledon elegance meets pickleball excitement—dink in your whites, then chill with a Volley, Pimm's Cup,or Frozen Strawberries and Crème cocktail! 2nd Sunday on King Street will be buzzing too, so you can easily hop between both events. Mercantile and Mash is hosting a Summer Pies Class on the 14th at 4pm and on July 19th they’ll have a candle making class, tickets can be found here. The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art’s will have a Family day that same day on 161 Calhoun Street. "A Year With Frog and Toad," running from July 20 to July 28, 2024, will delight audiences with this charming children's musical at the Historic Dock Street Theatre. On August 2nd the ArtWalk downtown will take place, which is a Monthly first Friday art walk through the downtown Charleston galleries. On the 3rd, Idina Menzel will be performing at the Gaillard Center! Tickets start at $59, and you can find them here. Johns Island & West Ashley Sunset water cruises will be running all summer around Charleston, including The Carolina Girl’s sunset cruise every Wednesday departing at 6:30pm from St. Johns Yacht Harbor. Tickets are $50. Tiki Tours of Charleston hosts live music on Wednesdays departing at 6pm and tickets start at $85. Experience a tranquil Floating Sound Bath by the Stono River with Charleston Sunchasers & Stillspace on Wednesday, July 17. Choose between booking a pool spot or yard spot at 1931 Capri Drive. Lady Bug Day will be on July 20th at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens! Enjoy a delightful ladybug release, crafts, games, wildlife and nature education, and so much more. Mount Pleasant This summer is the 20th Annual Sweetgrass Festival, of course, but did you also know about "A Taste Of Sweetgrass Culture.” The event features Gullah cuisine, storytelling, music by DJ Tony Love, and an open bar. Tickets are $100. July 19th will be Dancing on the Cooper at the Mount Pleasant Pier and the farmers market is every tuesday at 3:30 pm. On Fridays in August the Waterfront Music and Movies will begin at Memorial Waterfront Park in Mount Pleasant. Food sales begin at 6:00pm, live music at 6:30pm and Movies begin at Sunset. On June 22 the 7th Annual Pride Bar Crawl will start at 5pm on the Ritual Rooftop! Same night around 8pm Ryan Adams will be playing at the Riviera Theater. Tickets are being sold here. On July 4th of course there is the Salute From the Shore and it looks like they’ll be flying down the coast starting at 1pm. July 5th-7th will be the Vintage Market at the Refinery! Mark your calendar for July 20th, as Riverfront Park hosts the 9th Annual Caribbean Jerk Festival. This family-friendly event celebrates the finest in Caribbean food, culture, and music. Highlights include a Top Jerk Chef competition and a wing eating contest. Last year’s food was phenomenal, and this year promises to be even better! The festival runs from 3-10pm, so don’t miss out! tickets start at $10. July 20th From 1pm-7pm, the Festival Drink Pink: A Charleston Rose will be at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park. July 27 The 20th Annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival will be going on to promote the Gullah Geechee people’s history, culture, traditions. The festival starts at 10 am and goes through 3pm at Memorial Waterfront Park. Parking at town hall is free. August 3rd is the16th Annual Joe’s Buddy Memorial tournament at Gold Bug Island, SC from 6am to 10pm. Get tickets and make any donation you would like! This is a family friendly inshore fishing tournament for Redfish, trout and flounder. The awards BYOB banquet includes dinner, live music and a raffle. Make sure to register by 7/12! July 4th of course is Patriots Point Fireworks Blast! Featuring food trucks, fireworks and live music. New Beginnings in Mount Pleasant: Hermosa Jewelry has moved down Coleman Boulevard and Brown Fox will be expanding! The Fish Fry always draws a ton of people to the Fish Fry Shack located at 1459 Hennessy Street, which helps with their yearly funding. This year's fry should be an absolute blast starting at 5pm. june 29-30 Don't miss Carolina Day 2024 at Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park! Aug 28th Matisyahu plays at the Windjammer! Should be a great summer Concert Series! Folly Beach June 21 Folly Pirates Over 40 will be at Party at the point. It’s a Jimmy Buffet inspired band, dancing is encouraged! July 27-28th is the Wahine Classic on Folly Beach! Get there early to beat traffic, have som breakfast at Lost Dog Cafe and then watch all the surfers or register now to compete! Daniel Island July 25th is New Kids on the Block at Credit One Stadium! James Island June 21 Reggae Nights Summer Concert is going on and gates will open at 7:30pm while the music starts at 8pm. Bring chairs or a blanket! There is also the Dog Day Afternoon! Where you can bring your doggo to swim with others, however dates will be available soon. North Charleston June 22nd is Park Circle's Garage Sale Day! – The Park Circle Community will host a neighborhood-wide community garage sale! Each sale will take place at individual homes, and we invite everyone from around Charleston to drive through the neighborhood and explore the various garage sales! June 25th Tuesday Trivia Happy Hour on the Outer Banks show at Firefly Distillery at 7pm. Should be a great time to test your knowledge on the Pogues and Kooks. July 7th (Aug 4, Sept 1) is sunday at Celadon (2221 Noisette Blvd.) from 10am-2PM. They're introducing a new series of monthly markets starting this year and it will be the first Sunday of every month. Opening this summer in North Charleston will be a family friendly indoor adventure park called Adrenaline Monkey! They have adult and child ninja warrior classes, rock climbing and more! They have summer camp and after school programs for when school starts back up.
